Wormwood has been used for centuries as an ‘anthelmintic’ (parasiticide) internally and as a ‘hemostatic,’ externally. It has been used medicinally for colds, sore eyes, as a hair tonic, and for relieving wound swelling. Wormwood counteracts fevers, regulates the liver and treats anemia and arthritis. Wormwood is helpful for stopping internal bleeding and is useful as an antidote against many poisonous mushrooms. It acts as a local anesthetic and is a good liniment when applied to relieve the pain of rheumatism, neuralgia, arthritis, sprains, bruises, lower back pain and localized inflammation. It is an invigorating, aromatic herb that has antiseptic qualities and is capable of expelling worms. For intestinal parasites combine equal parts of the powders of Wormwood, Black Walnut, Goldenseal, garlic, cloves, and half parts each of Licorice root and Ginger. In capsule form, take two capsules of Wormwood, Black Walnut and Cloves 4 times daily for a week. NOTE: Wormwood should only be used in small quantities and over limited periods of time. Not recommended for children or pregnant women. Please note: it is a member of the Ragweed family.
