Rue Herb

Rue (Ruta graveolens) is used in the treatment of nervous spasms, neuralgia, trauma, cramps, and to relax strained muscles and tendons. Rue can be taken externally or internally. Internally, it should be used moderately. A few drops of Rue oil can be applied to cotton to treat earaches in children or adults. The Chinese use a tincture of Rue for sedation, relieving rheumatic pains, increasing local circulation and reducing swelling. Given in small doses of one-half to one teaspoon at a time, the tincture helps relieve menstrual cramps and promote blood circulation through the female reproduction organs. NOTE: Rue should be strictly AVOIDED during pregnancy.
