An expectorant, Horehound works to treat coughs and colds. It affects respiration directly by dilating vessels. Marshmallow is a demulcent; internally it has a soothing effect on inflammation of the alimentary canal, the urinary tract and respiratory organs. Boneset has shown to contain anti-viral properties and strengthens the immune system by enhancing the secretion of interferon. It is effective against minor viral and bacterial infections by stimulating white blood cells. Borage has soothing effects, reduces inflammation plus it helps detoxify the body. It is known to heal the mucous membranes of the mouth and throat. Chamomile has anti-inflammatory properties and anti-bacterial properties. Elder Flower reduces fevers by increasing blood circulation and promoting sweating. It works as an expectorant to relieve mucus and reduce inflammation. Hyssop is used for lung ailments and fevers, it helps relax and expel phlegm from the lungs and relieve coughing. Flowers from the Linden tree have been used since the Middle Ages to induce perspiration to break fevers and as a gentle sedative to calm nervous anxiety and insomnia. Red Clover is a blood purifier and blood builder and is a primary immune enhancer against flu and cold viruses. The beneficial part of the Osha plant is the root, which has long been used and considered sacred by Native Americans for cold, cough, and other respiratory ailments. Coltsfoot is used for coughs and other respiratory ailments; it has a calming effect on the throat as well as the brain’s cough-activating mechanism.

  • Ingredients: Vanilla Rooibos, Orange Peel, Horehound, Marshmallow Root, Boneset, Borage, Chamomile, Elder Flower, Hyssop, Linden, Red Clover, Osha Root, Coltsfoot, and Cinnamon Powder. HERBAL DECOCTION: Place 1 ¼ cup of water in pan with 1 ½ tsp. roots, heat slowly and simmer covered for 10-15 minutes. The longer you simmer the herbs, the stronger the tea will be. Strain into a cup and serve.
