Spanish and Hungarian paprika are both sweet, however the Spanish is a bit sweeter. Originally Hungarian was a hot paprika, but as Spanish paprika became the preferred type, Hungarian peppers were bred to taste more like the Spanish. Now traditional hot paprika is produced by adding a little cayenne to the Hungarian paprika.
