MANJISTHA POWDER (Rubia cordifolia) aka - Indian Madder, Bengal MadderThis climbing plant is found in the Himalayas and up to 8,000 feet in India. Manjistha supports the formation of quality nutrient plasma (Rasa Dhatu), blood (Rakta Dhatu), and fat (Meda Dhatu). It is anti-inflammatory, wound healing and blood purifying, so it finds its use in treating chronic arthritis, while increasing appetite. Manjistha also induces menstrual bleeding and stimulates and contracts the uterus, so it is used for amenorrhea, and to cleanse the uterus after child birth. It is used to treat Kapha and Pitta disorders, including herpes, acne, psoriasis, eczema and dermatitis.
