CRANBERRY (Vaccinium macrocarpon),
The fruit and juice of the cranberry are mainly used to treat bladder and urinary tract infections. Studies have found substances in cranberries that can inhibit the adherence of E. coli bacteria to the bladder wall. They found that certain properties of cranberries make urine more acidic, and this reduces the likelihood of bacteria adhering to the lining of the urinary tract.
