BOSWELLIA (Boswellia serrata) aka - Boswellin Boswellia has a long history of use in Ayurvedic healing. Its resin, called 'salai guggal,' has been used to treat asthma, arthritis, various inflammatory conditions, and to relieve joint pain and pain resulting from sports injuries. It may also be helpful for treating back pain and some chronic intestinal disorders. Boswellic acids are the principal compounds thought to be at the root of boswellia’s anti-inflammatory properties. These components are believed to inhibit enzymes that induce pain and inflammation. This herb has a long tradition of safe and effective use as a mild anti-inflammatory to alleviate pain and stiffness and enhance mobility without serious side effects. Boswellia is best taken as needed to reduce pain and stiffness, rather than regularly as a maintenance herb.
