Birch Bark

The American Indians used Birch Bark to make a tea to help relieve headaches. Some tribes brewed a tea from the leaves and dried bark for fevers, kidney stones and abdominal cramps caused by gas in the digestive system. Poultics of boiled bark were used to aid in healing of burns, wounds and bruises. It has a mild sedative effect and can be taken for insomnia.
