Acientc Egyptians and Arabic civilzations used it to treat a variety odf medical conditions, from colds to leprosy. It still plays a role in modern medicine. Historically, it was used to treat; skin wounds such as burns, cuts, or leprosy, digestive issues, gonorrhea, coughs, dysentary and colds.
It's a good source of fiber. Like other dietery fiber, acacia may help in lowering cholesterol. Acacia is demulcent, that relieves irratation in the mucus membranes of the mouth by creating a protective film. Acacia has antibacterialc properties that help control harmful bacteria in the mouth that cause gum disease.
